Okay, it’s not Telescopes, but Someone Had a Question

I know I said the next post would be about telescopes, but someone has asked a question and I need to answer it. Duty calls.

Indeed, your leader does know his way around the internets. Quite well. So well that he knows the answer to your question without having to research. Much.

First up: http://www.steepandcheap.com/

It’s like Woot! but with outdoors stuff. One deal a day. And usually a good one too.

Next up: http://www.departmentofgoods.com

An offshoot of backcountry.com, this site has pretty good deals.

Third up: http://www.thecheapoutdoors.com

This site collects data (and takes user submissions) regarding sales on other sites. You can find one-day sales (i.e. what SteepandCheap.com has listed for the day) and get coupons to use on outdoor gear sites.

Fourth up: http://www.outdooroutlet.com/

The “Outrageous” deals on outdooroutlet.com are good. Not all name brand stuff though.

Fifth up: http://www.rei.com/outlet

Slick site. You can find good deals here.

6th up: http://www.overstock.com/

Believe it or not, you can get really lucky here sometimes. Sunglasses and ski goggles especially.

Let us know if you find any other good sites for outdoor gear. Remember that most reputable companies that make quality outdoor products won’t sell to stores for deep discounts though. It’s a bit like Apple, most sellers sell the stuff for generally the same prices because they all get it for the same price. Usually.
